He loves fashion, and prefers bold looks and colors, and is actually a little disappointed that he doesn't stand out as much in Vegas. Still, you can't miss him, because if he's not the most colorful person in the room, he'll still be the loudest.

MOTIVATION
After school, Sloan went into sales, and he was good at it. He was acting on the side, and while he hadn't made it big, that was going well too. It was all fine and swell and easy and awful, honestly. He hated it.
It may be a cliche, but he decided that he wanted to do some good in the world. Not only that, but he wanted something out of life that challenged him, too. Something he had to actually put effort into. He's not above copying someone else's homework, so he decided to follow a childhood friend to auror school and become a hero. And, if he's totally honest, the clout didn't hurt either.

Sloan suffers from former gifted student syndrome. Everything always came easy for him in school, he could coast without needing to study or put too much effort in. Sure, he had to learn to buckle down for Auror academy, but by then a precedent had been set. Sloan doesn't plan unless he needs to. He flies by the seat of his pants and assumes he can talk his way out of any tight spots because, typically, he can. He's adaptable, but not always prepared, and sometimes that means he doesn't realize up shit creek until he's well and truly up it.

Because Sloan's mom worked as a housekeeper in Olympus, he spent a lot of time around rich children without actually being one. He wanted to belong, so he quickly learned to mimic the way they acted, the things they talked about.
In school, he got good grades without needing to put in much effort. In fact, he preferred to hide the fact that he had straight A's. That's for nerds, and it was extremely important to Sloan that he be popular, much to his teachers' chagrin. He was in a variety of clubs, from drama to student council, but used these to bolster his popularity. He was well known as a fun time, the guy you want to party with.

After graduating high school, Sloan bounced around between jobs, trying to find his calling. He did well at waiting tables, but he still moved onto sales. He made a killing at any job that offered a commission, because he could talk just about anyone into anything. In his spare time, he performed in the community theater and played gigs at local bars. He stayed busy, but nothing actually satisfied him. He couldn't shake the feeling that he needed more.
When an old friend landed on his couch after being mauled by a werewolf in a research accident during his auror training. At first, Sloan was focused on supporting him. Then it turned into supporting him and getting him to stop playing video games and live his life. That's when inspiration struck. Sloan was going to enroll in Auror school and go back with Ichabod. He was going to become a hero too.
Not many people took Sloan seriously when he announced he was going to apply to the Auror Academies. Most of his friends laughed out loud. His parents couched their skepticism with worry. He had the grades, though, and it wasn't hard to track down old teachers, even old bosses, to give him letters of recommendation. By some stroke of luck or cosmic comedy, he got in. Boy, howdy, actually starting at the academy was a culture shock, though. For the first time, he had to learn to try really hard. He also didn't have much in common with most of the other candidates, so serious and hard. Also, Alaska is really cold! But he put in the work. He didn't have the best grades, not least of all because he never had much innate talent for fighting and struggled in related subjects most of all, but just like in high school, he strived to be popular.
